"The travel pro pilot, seven 3 works well, and slides in and out of the slot under the jumpseat great!"
"Tried to submit multiple reviews. My bag showed stitching coming out of the rubber guard and my monogram initials never showed. Multiple reviews confirmed the same. customer service denied the claim. Terrible service for the price"
"Pretty disappointed with the bag. The bag overall works but when received the stitching started to come out of the rubber padding. Not only was the quality not good but the company did not ship the data plate that was ordered as well. After contacting the company to receive either replacement or repair said that it didn’t warrant and exchange since it didn’t affect functionality. What a terrible brand and company!"
"I was one of the first buyers of this bag, purchased in April 2024. The wheel broke in November 2025 and TravelPro says they can't fix it. They are giving me a 15% coupon for a new bag. If you think TravelPro will stand behind their 5 year warranty, they will not. . . and I was left scrambling to find a new bag during the busy holiday season. I used my bag normally and the wheel broke with no warning whatsoever. Other than that, I loved this bag and wish it could have lasted longer. My consumer brand Away luggage is more versatile and rugged than TravelPro."
"I’m writing this review on the Pilot Seven3 without expansion (sku 3422-01) after 18 months of use. 12 of those months have been as a regional FO with a cross-country commute. On note based on other comments: my monogrammed panel shipped separately so I thought it was missing at first. Not sure of that’s the issue others are having. I bought this version without side pockets or expansion to fit into regional jet bins better. So far, I’ve had no problems on Embraer E-jets, but sometimes bins on a320s or 737s designed to hold the bag on its long side force me to turn it so the wheels are facing out. Still fits though. LAYOUT: This bag has slightly fewer pockets and organization than Travelpro's own Flightcrew5 bags, but for me that's a plus. While the frame and shape appear to be taken straight from the FC5, the layout is slightly changed. The several pockets/laptop sleeve on the front face of the flightcrew5 is replaced by just a single slip pocket and a large dump pocket. I find that this is slimmer and allows a better place to stuff a light jacket in a pinch without opening up the whole bag. I can even cram a Purple seat cushion (thinnest version) in there assuming the rest of the bag isn’t stuffed. I can always slip a laptop inside a sleeve into this pocket too. Inside is very standard Travelpro with two big tightening straps. Accessory pockets on the inside of lid are well sized for wallets, watch bands, etc but too small for socks. The large accessory pocket inside the entire lid will hold two pressed uniform shirts, but there isn’t any sort of garment folder/rigid plate/straps here to keep them from wrinkling. Big miss by Travelpro here but solvable with 3rd party accessories or at least a big piece of cardboard. HARDWARE: Retractable handle is the same one from other Travelpro bags. Hasn’t let me down yet 2 years into ownership. The YKK zips are a huge plus, much better and smoother than whatever was on flightcrew5. This is honestly one of the major reasons why I upgraded after several zipper coil failures on my old FC5 bag (Travelpro did warranty out that bag though for a new FC5). The magnetic J-hook is neat, but it has come detached in the back of crew vans unintentionally. The magnetic attachment is manufactured by Fidlock, who manufacture neat little magnetic buckles for lots of people. However, this bag would’ve been just as good with the old J-hook design, possibly even better. Fidlocks seem to come apart at inopportune moments. I’ve had to run back to the overhead on several occasions because the j-hook fell off in flight. Never ever gate check this bag with the j-hook attached. You’ll never see that piece again. STUFF THAT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: Along with the J-hook fidlock attachment, are a few additional things that could use improvement. The J-hook does not adjust short enough to carry a backpack. For you cargo guys out there with backpacks, keep that in mind. It’s really only meant for smaller totes. My Brightline flight bag is about the tallest thing that can fit with the J-hook adjusted to a short as it goes. I can’t think of a reasonable use case for the maximum length it extends to. This is enough of an oversight that once spares are available (not available online yet 18 months into ownership), I'll buy another one and shorten it myself on a sewing machine. The J-hook triglide adjuster also slips a little too easily, lengthening the strap without you noticing. It’s easy enough to just adjust shorter again but it’s just a little annoying. Finally, I think this bag is about $70 too expensive for what it is. Over $300 for this is a little hard to swallow when there is so much similarity to FlightCrew5. It may be a good idea to buy both regular FC5 without expansion as well as this to compare. You may find that one suits you better than the other, which may save you a lot of cash. TLDR: Good bag overall, well built while still being lighter than luggageworks. Adequate organization, simplification of exterior pockets over FC5, which in my opinion is more usable. Great zippers, J-hook is neat but has its issues with attachment and length. Would be nice if the price was $70 cheaper (around $280 total). Suggestions to Travelpro: 1) consider a Fidlock attachment version of the luggage strap option from the FC5 (PN: P3115B) that can be shortened more than the J-hook so that backpacks can be easily mounted. Alternatively, ditch the triglide strap adjustment on the J-hook and give it a tail so that I can adjust it shorter, much like the old j-hook design. 2) for this kind of price, offer some kind of garment holder inside the lid like Briggs and Riley does. Your target market here carries uniforms that need to stay crisp and wrinkle free. Help us out!"
"the baggage hook is too long and the TravelPro pilot bag drags on the ground even with the hook strap adjusted to its shortest length."
"The overall design, weight and functionality of the bag is great. If there is one thing I would change is the durability of the J-Hook clamp. Mine seems to come off constantly if some hits it just right."
"Works great for my needs. Bag fits great in 737 flight deck and overhead bins. Nice and light weight."
"I requested monogrammed patch and my travelpro came not with"
"The biggest problem with this bag is that the hook is closed loop. That means it can only be adjusted so far. Mine was way to long for my bag. I had to have it sewn shut higher up to be able to use it. The bag is also smaller than my old travelpro 2. This bag does not have an inner side pockets to store items. Only 2 mesh ones on the top on the inner side of the bag. Otherwise, it's a nice bag for work use. The back outside pocket is a lot smaller than my previous one as well."
